  • Like you Patti, I placed an order back on 5 July for extra rollers and side bars that ostensibly were in stock.  No sight of them yet and just getting the standard "it takes 12 weeks" response to any email I send.   I have an awful feeling that I have done my $'s on this last order, but they may eventually turn up.  A pity really as they are a great product, but I won't be ordering anymore.

  • Carla and Patti, I got the Millenuim frame a couple years ago with intent to do the casket panels on them. Have never used them and have been thinking of selling them if either of you are interested. Oh, I see Patti has hers on order. It took several weeks for mine to come too, but not 6 months!
  • Hi Carla-

Have you ordered your millennium frame yet?   I've had one on order since June and I can't get in touch with anyone to find out the status.  I'm going to try calling again on Monday.  I was just wondering if you've had any better luck.  Thanks, Patti

  • The Essamplaire casket has taken a back seat I am afraid. I got behind and then things like quilting and starting Tricia's mirror with doors took over. I am thinking now that I might 'bank' it and see what Margriet's planning to do about the casket form/completion. I did notice when the third drawing came out for the opposite slope/frieze that it was smaller but I held it up against the side I was doing and the design area matches in size but the outline drawn is smaller. I figured then with my brief attention to it that I would not be drawing that outline again on any further pieces so that wasn't an issue. I haven't emailed Margriet about it though so don't know why. It does make you a little reluctant to invest all that time when you have no dimensional verification. I am keen to work on the mirror while Tricia is running the CoC II as it is motivating to try those techniques.

  • Hi Carla,

When you lose a pup they take a piece of your heart with them. Owen and I are doing well. Now that Owen is thriving on being the 'solo' pup. He's mellowing as he ages. We enjoy our long morning walks and he's the perfect stitching and quilting companion.

I hope to get back to blogging soon. I have many stitching and quilting projects both started and finished to share with my readers.

Thank you for thinking of me!

  • Hi Carla, I just noticed your comment on my page.  I'd be happy to be your friend.  How are you getting on with the bird thimble?

  • The thimbles are nice to make, and are a quick finish gratification to do whilst on larger projects.  I can manage some of the designs in 3-4 hours.  The longest part is usually deciding the colours & pattern to stitch.  They also make great earrings ;)

  • Thanks for the complements! The Frances Cheney wasn't as hard as it looks-but after a few rows it gets really scarey, as you have to cut the base fabric's threads out. I actually stopped work on it for a long time (years) and only pulled it out again because I had promised it to my sister. I've made some pretty drastic changes to my casket design which I haven't posted, and have taken the seahorses out and added a hound chasing a ram. I didn't want to make my name too prominent, and actually only add it if I can't think of anything else to fill a space. I got the sheep, and dogs, from '4000 Animal, Bird and Fish Motifs', ISBN-13: 9 780713 489392. It's gotten kind of hard to find, but I think Amazon has it fairly cheap still. I can't wait to see what you come up with, your comments really are insightful, and I think your ideas will be very good.

  • Thanks so much for the idea of a 'stabilizing' bottom foam core base, Lela :-)

  • Re your questions re making the form core mock-up.  We used a cutting mat and ruler - the type quilters use.  We found that a box cutter with an new blade was the best cutter.  I made both boxes since I have not yet decided which one I will do.  I also cut a box bottom for each box using the Flat Casket Top as the template.  This helps to stabilize the box shape when moving the box about.  I did not tape my templates to the box like Jeri did (see picture).  I plan to trace my templates to graphed tracing paper and then design on that.  You can get large pads of that at art supply stores or Office Max or Staples.  It took me about 4 hours from start to finish to make both boxes.

Are you looking forward to your upcoming trip to Lace convention?  What type of lace do you do?  I love to do needlelace but have never tried any other type of lace.
