Hi Jo - Yes nearly finished it. I had a great idea yesterday evening - I have some lovely glove leather from my doll making days - I'm wondering if I could substitute the ultra suede - it would be a challenge, but if it works . . . .. I'm really enjoying doing this course - are you? I've already finished the butterfly and put into a wooden pin cushion base instead of the square, because I've been looking for something to cover the pin cushion with. I also have the Eve project to finish, but want to start on the satin pillow - decisions, decisions!
Hi Joy. Thank you for your comment. Yes, it is fine work isn't it, but very enjoyable nevertheless. As you can see, I just did tiny running stitches on my glove, which seem to look smaller in real life than they appear on the photo. I don't think you will have a problem with it as you have sewn ultra suede before. I think a thimble helps a great deal! Have you nearly finished your goldwork?
Jo - Lovely work - isn't this fine work? - even under my magnifier it's challenging.
All, I was also wondering about hand stitching my Glove - am just fighting with the gold thread but am thinking the glove would be tricking to machine stitch due to it's size. I have sewn with ultrasuede before when making teddies, and it can be tough to sew. I'm thinking of using a leather needle which should make it easier. I guess it would be best to sew a running stitch and then come back with another one in between. A back stitch would not look good on the underside. Or you could try glove stitch - which I have done on felt type constructions before.
I might try the hand stitching as well. I'm just wondering how thick and tough the material is. I haven't looked at it closely yet. Has anyone out there hand stitched the Rose glove?
We're in the same place. I completed the pink and green sections of the Rose Glove and am working on the gold background. I'm only nervous about putting it together as I'm not a seamstress and do not have a sewing machine. Maybe for this course I'll need to get one and take a lesson or so. How much magnification do you use?
