I started to leave you amessage and lost it so if you get this twice I am sorry. I am still figuring this out. It would be wonderful to have you here. I love Roque Bluffs. I have a new friend here who is into dying fabric and fibers and seems to be connecting weavers and knitters and quilters with her activities. I am an embroiderer at heart and cross stitcher. In Maine I quilt. I get my fix for stitching in Williamsburg every couple of years. I have always wanted to go to Winterthur but have yet to make it. I have always wanted to weave and when I married Bob two years ago this month I came into a loom that he had built for his late wife. It is a 5 harness floor loom. I am hoping to get to it.
This casket it way beyond me in terms of design and yet it is a journey. I tell myself that I will do the best I can with it and I am such a fan of Tricia's. I love the depth of her research and I feel I am learning all the time.
We have an apartment above the garage that is our guest space. I know you have the boat but some of the places to see are from land. We have two vehicles. I am sure that you know that there is a sheep farm on Roque Island that has wonderful wool. I have not been out there but know someone who knows the family and who knows what we could work out. At least there is a slim possibility. My phone number is 207 263 5323. Feel free to call me as I think we have a lot to talk about. Thanks for sharing. We will both surface in the design process and probably have a few laughs in the process. The interesting thing for me in all of this is that I have a couple of ideas in my head for quilting a scene or two from around here.
I was so glad to see another Mainer on the list of members. I live down east in Roque Bluffs. We have land that is known as Birch Point. It extends outinto the Englishmen River just above where it empties into the bay. How did you come to be doing this class?
I have been an ardent lover of counted cross stitch and surface embroidery but when I came to Maine All I found was quilting. and so I used the needle in another way. But I missed stitching and so have attended several Christmas in Williamsburg seminars to get my fix. In one of the Hoffman media's magazines I saw the add for On line University with Tricia. What a joy the first three classes were. I am looking forward to haering from you. We are 5-6 hours from you but we do occasionally get down to Portland. Perhapsin the future we could visit. I would love to hear from you. Karen H. Miller
