I wonder if chain stitches would work for the weeping willow. I've only finished lesson one, so am not sure if it's included in 17th century stitches, but I always thought it would work for that tree.
I just saw your drawing for the casket. It reminds me so much of the mourning samplers that were very popular in this country in the late 18th century----the rage after George Washington died. The weeping willow especially.

Just getting used to this NING thing is a new adventure. I'm very excited about this merging of my love for embroidery and women's history. But I'm a bit clutzy at putting things together....like a box. How long have you been working on this?
