Hi Donna,
I'm also new to the course. I just started lesson 2. Each is so detailed and I'm taking my time looking at all the images and trying to become proficient in NING-ing. but everyone is so knowledgeable about embroidery and history that I 'm learning something new every day from the comments.
I am a US women's historian by trade and am thinking about a casket in celebration of the 100th anniversary of women's suffrage in the US in 1920. (Our NZ sisters were way ahead of us!) The various scenes are starting to form in my head and go along with my dream of doing a women's history series in needlepoint and crewel.
