  • Thats great Charles. I have always been facinated with the creatures, birds and insects, real and imagined on the historical caskets.

Like the idea of playing with photos/ photocopies to plan the design for casket or do a fabulous decopage mockup.

I am in the encore group so I guess there are discussions to discover on this process/ topic.

Velvet is a lovely tactile ribbon to use for edging and comes in a variety of widths. Depending on the velvet thickness, the hinge may need to be altered to enable lid to close cleanly.

    Good luck, post some pics.

  • Hi, Charles. I used two Long Dog samplers stuck together with some stuff I made up. I think the names of the samplers were Sunne Spotte and Beautie Spotte. Long Dog listed them as going together, and I took that literally. It ended up about 4 1/2 ft. long and cost a fortune to frame.

  • Hey, Charles! I just found your comment on the mirror surround. I love the idea of Adam and Eve. I did a sampler of them in September while waiting for the stitching to start on this class, and although they are a little alarming, I enjoyed it very much. I got the skin on my lady and will be adding hair today. Still haven't gotten very far on her dress, though, as I'm waiting for threads. When did you take up stitching? Can't wait to see your designs for the casket.

  • Hello fellow East Coast friend!

  • Hi, Charles! Good to see a man or two in the class. Hope you enjoy everything!
